Jazz4us Inc. Presents an Evening with Rose Kingsley

Newport Beach, CA – July 20, 2017—Jazz4us, a nonprofit organization formed to support the community of jazz artists and musicians throughout Southern California, will feature jazz sensation Rose Kingsley and her “Through the Years with Johnny Mercer” show—Friday, August 11, 2017, at 7 p.m., at the Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club on 1601 Bayside Drive, Corona del Mar, CA, 92625.

Kingsley will perform a portfolio of songs written by the late great jazz artist, Johnny Mercer, and will be accompanied by famed pianist Bob Corwin, Johnny Mercer’s son-in-law and band member of more than 20 years.

Dubbed by music critics as “The Female Frank Sinatra,” Kingsley has successfully crossed over from a highly acclaimed musical career as an opera singer, performing in such venues as New York City’s Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall, Steinway Hall, and the Houston Grand Opera; to the Pop Jazz and Blues venues of Birdland Jazz Club in New York, and the Catalina Jazz Bar & Grill in Hollywood. Her unique song style, with four octave range and rich sultry vocals, vividly captures the essence of each song’s story, while touching the hearts and souls of audiences everywhere. After releasing her first CD album “This is My Life” last year, Kingsley received five-star reviews from Associated Press and Jazz Weekly, among others.

Jazz4us founder, Wayne Biessman, commented, “I am delighted to present Rose Kingsley and Bob Corwin in this special tribute to Johnny Mercer at the August concert. This unique presentation will be a real treat for our audience and no doubt become one of the season’s highlights.”

An avid jazz lover since the 1940s, Biessman is passionate about keeping the jazz musical genre alive and claims that it is America’s only original art form. Working exclusively with the Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club venue, the 2017 Jazz4us concert schedule has a number of well-known jazz artists and musicians included in this year’s lineup. Biessman is also committed to showcasing new and aspiring jazz artists and musicians in an effort to introduce and educate younger audiences to the music genre.
